'''Squidward Tentacles''' is a six-legged turquoise octopus<ref>"I don't have a fin bone! I'm an octopus!" - Squidward, "[[Patrick! The Game]]"</ref> and is the tritagonist in the ''[[SpongeBob SquarePants (franchise)|SpongeBob SquarePants]]'' franchise. He is the grouchy neighbor of [[SpongeBob SquarePants|SpongeBob]] and [[Patrick Star|Patrick]], and he lives between then in a dark blue [[Squidward's house|Easter Island head]]. Squidward has a cynical, pessimistic, arrogant, egomaniacal, snarky and often anti-heroic personality. He is more mature than his two neighbors. Squidward works at the [[Krusty Krab]] as a cashier, a job that he hates. Squidward views his talents differently than others, such as his ability to play [[clarinet]], which he believes he is good at despite several instances of others disliking it. 

Squidward dislikes SpongeBob and Patrick and finds them annoying because they often disturb him from leisure activities such as playing clarinet. Despite this, SpongeBob and Patrick are oblivious that Squidward dislikes them, and they often invite him to play with them. Squidward sometimes goes on misadventures with the two, usually against his will. He is voiced by [[Rodger Bumpass]].
