Eugene Harold Krabs, often referred to as Mr. Krabs, is a red crab who lives in a hollow anchor with his daughter Pearl, who is a sperm whale. Krabs owns and operates the Krusty Krab restaurant, where he manages his employees, SpongeBob and Squidward. His enemy, business rival, and former childhood friend is Sheldon J. Plankton, who runs the Chum Bucket across from the Krusty Krab. A focal plot point in the series is Plankton's numerous attempts to steal the Krabby Patty secret formula but is always foiled, usually by Mr. Krabs or SpongeBob. Mr. Krabs is voiced by Clancy Brown.

Mr. Krabs is very greedy and has an obsession with money. His love for money is often at the expense of others, usually SpongeBob and Squidward, who receive minimal pay from him. Despite his selfish and greedy nature, Mr. Krabs is generally not a series antagonist, although he sometimes resorts to relying on crooked business practices for profit. Mr. Krabs is highly respected by SpongeBob, whom he shares a tentative father-son relationship with. Unlike SpongeBob, Squidward dislikes Mr. Krabs.
