“From this moment on forth, I vow to give my Gary the utmost in empty frivolity!”
SpongeBob

"Grooming Gary" is the second segment of the tenth episode of season 6, and it is paired up with "The Slumber Party." In this episode, SpongeBob enters Gary into a pet show, but after seeing how differently the other competitors treat their pets, he tries to do the same for his own.

Characters[edit]

Plot[edit]

SpongeBob wakes up at his house to find out that today's when the Bikini Bottom Pet Show is happening, and it's happening in an hour. However, Gary is not in the bedroom, so he searches for him until eventually finding him in his library. SpongeBob goes over a checklist for Gary's health, and then brings him to the pet show.

He sees that the other pet owners have taken care of their pets much better than he has, especially one pet owner named Charles. He vows to take better care of his snail, so he goes back to his house to make Gary more fancy with help from Patrick, much to his dismay.

SpongeBob finally brings Gary back to the pet show, while the other contestants are getting their pets ready for the show as well. Gary tries to stop SpongeBob, but fails. The judge starts inspecting the pets one by one until eventually reaching Gary. However, when he tries looking into Gary's shell, he bites him.

Gary goes over to the podium and makes the pets riot by burning their clothes and attacking their owners. SpongeBob gets on the podium and tells everyone Gary was trying to tell them that they should be fair to their pets rather than use them as rag dolls in scratchy outfits. The judge is about to give Gary the trophy, but ends up giving it to Patrick, who he thinks is SpongeBob's other pet.
