"SpongeBob vs. The Patty Gadget" is the second segment of the eighth episode of season 5, and it is paired with "Money Talks" and "Slimy Dancing." In this episode, SpongeBob competes with Squidward's new Patty Gadget after he threatens to have Mr. Krabs replace him with the machine.

Plot[edit]
At the Krusty Krab, Squidward brings in a Patty Gadget. Mr. Krabs tests it and learns how useful it is. Squidward tells him to fire SpongeBob as the cost for the gadget.
SpongeBob doesn't like this and challenges the gadget to a patty war, while a crowd watches. He starts cooking the patties, while Squidward's patties are automated.
He sets the gadget on high, while SpongeBob cooks patties even faster. Later, Squidward pulls the lever even lower until it breaks, causing the gadget to start making patties at an extremely rapid pace.
Fortunately, SpongeBob makes patties at an even faster rate, until eventually the gadget explodes. SpongeBob gets tired and falls down, and soon after a funeral service is held. It turns out they just buried the gadget and SpongeBob's still alive.
