“Scaring is a young man's game. It's time to give up the ghost; no pun intended.”
Flying Dutchman

"Ghost Host" is the second segment of the tenth episode of season 4, and it is paired with "Chimps Ahoy." In this episode, the Flying Dutchman stays at SpongeBob's house while his ship gets repaired, but thinks he lost his touch after scaring SpongeBob too much.

Characters[edit]

Plot[edit]

The Flying Dutchman accidentally crashes his ship into a mountain. He calls someone to repair his ship and stays at SpongeBob's house in the meantime. He scares SpongeBob many times until eventually he is no longer scared of him. The Dutchman thinks he can no longer scare people, only for SpongeBob to tell he should just scare people other than him.

He scares someone as they're sleeping, but it doesn't work at first, and he ends up getting scared after the Dutchman leaves. He thinks he needs a break and stays at SpongeBob's house for awhile, only to end up staying there for 6 months and become a slob, while hanging out with several other ghosts and has a girlfriend in his house.

SpongeBob tells everyone except the Dutchman to get out and then shows him an inspirational video. He then has the Dutchman try to scare an old fish and Larry, only for his attempts to prove futile. He thinks people don't believe in ghosts anymore, giving SpongeBob the idea to make him scare Squidward as he doesn't believe in ghosts.

The Dutchman does a long horror show on Squidward, successfully scaring him and making him run away. He has now regained his confidence and his scare, and then goes back to his ship as it has been repaired for three months. He gives SpongeBob a gift, which inside is a hand that pulls him inside.
