"Swamp Mates" is the first segment of the sixth episode of season 12, and it is paired with "One Trick Sponge." In this episode, Bubble Bass is forced into a play date with Patrick, which turns into a swampy search for a lost action figure.

SpongeBob is picking out a bedtime story to read for Gary, and picks Swamp Mates to read. The story starts with Bubble Bass imagining himself in a club meeting between the G.O.O.F.S about their latest victory, until the chief comes and tells the crew that Wonder Whale has been kidnapped by a villain named Hoodoo Guru. Right at this time, Bubble Bass' mom calls to tell him she brought Patrick over for a playdate with him.
He starts messing around with Bubble Bass' stuff once he enters the basement, making him annoyed. He eventually plays a game called Swamp, and dumps green liquid from a garbage bag, flooding the basement and causing them to get sucked in a whirlpool. They end up at a swamp on a log as a raft, and notice a mysterious figure with Bubble Bass' Wonder Whale action figure.
They try to chase after him, and, thinking he's in a nearby shack, go over there, only to realize it's home to several alligators. One of the alligators catches them and thinks they're trying to steal their illegal hot sauce. Patrick tries some, blowing up his head, but still comments that it isn't spicy and starts burping fire.
They run away from the alligators onto the log, while the alligators chase them with their hovercraft. Bubble Bass uses Patrick's ability to burp fire to burn the alligators' hovercraft. The two see the mysterious figure again and follow him, only for him to trap them in a net and to reveal that he is Hoodoo Guru, and took the Wonder Whale action figure to complete his collection.
Patrick eats the net to get them out of there and Bubble Bass takes the action figure, only for Hoodoo Guru to use a Patrick voodoo doll to defeat them and take the action figure back, until accidentally throwing Bubble Bass onto himself. Bubble Bass retrieves the action figure and they run away again, only for their log to have burned down, so they use Patrick as a replacement raft.
After a long chase through the swamp with Hoodoo and the alligators trying to reach them, they get scared and go back the other way due to the upcoming waterfall, which Patrick and Bubble Bass unfortunately fall down. Fortunately, it turns out Bubble Bass was just unconscious and still at his basement, while Patrick performs CPR in order to revive him. After Patrick slaps him in the back, he coughs out his Wonder Whale action figure, reuniting them once and for all.
