The SpongeBob Wiki has a guideline regarding the use of image galleries — collections of episode screenshots are no longer allowed on galleries due to potential fair use violations.

Information[edit]

Users are required to add this template to the top of any article or section that had its content copied from Encyclopedia SpongeBobia.

Pages from Encyclopedia SpongeBobia, and this template by extension, are only allowed if:

  1. The original article was deleted from Encyclopedia SpongeBobia.
  2. The editor(s) gave their permission for their edits to be added on SpongeBob Wiki.

If neither of these apply, an administrator will delete the page.

Users can take images from Encyclopedia SpongeBobia. However, they are required to cite Encyclopedia SpongeBobia unless the original uploader decides to reupload the image to SpongeBob Wiki or gave somebody else permission to do it on their behalf; in either case, the original uploader can be attributed rather than Encyclopedia SpongeBobia.

Usage[edit]

Note: While all of these parameters are technically optional, at least |permission= or |authors= must be used.

By default, the link to Encyclopedia SpongeBobia's page is the same. To change it, type {{ESB-notice|<article name>}}

deleted -- This tells us if the original page was deleted from Encyclopedia SpongeBobia.
section -- This simply changes the word "article" in the template to "section", if only a section applies but not the whole article.
permission -- This tells us that the original editor(s) gave their permission for their edits to be on SpongeBob Wiki.
authors -- This tells us the person(s) from Encyclopedia SpongeBobia who wrote the original content. The only time when it is acceptable to use without the permission parameter is when an article was deleted.

Example[edit]

Adding all of these parameters, {{ESB-notice|A Random Act of SpongeBob|deleted=yes|section=yes|permission=yes|authors=SpongeBob}}

you will get:

ESB.png This deleted section was originally from Encyclopedia SpongeBobia, whose content is licensed under the compatible CC-BY-SA license.
The original editors gave permission for their writing to be reused on SpongeBob Wiki.
The original authors are: SpongeBob.
