'''"The Battle of Bikini Bottom"''' is the second segment of the seventeenth episode of [[season 5]], and it is paired with "[[20,000 Patties Under the Sea]]." In this episode, [[SpongeBob]] and [[Patrick]] have a battle over cleanliness and filthiness.

==Plot==
After getting kicked out of the [[Bikini Bottom Mall|mall]] after causing drama over their shirts, they see a bunch of men getting ready to re-enact the battle of [[Bikini Bottom]]. SpongeBob is surprised there was a battle, so Patrick says the town was divided into two groups: clean citizens and filthy citizens, and that’s how the battle occurred, only to turn out that’s not what happened.

It turns out Patrick has never washed his hands, bothering SpongeBob. Patrick says they are no longer friends because of this difference between them. SpongeBob says they can work this out and creates a house out of disinfectant spray and invites Patrick, only to decline as he wants to be filthy.

They start to battle each other, with SpongeBob using several methods to clean Patrick while he tries several methods to make SpongeBob filthy. Eventually, Patrick chases SpongeBob with a booger into the [[Krusty Krab]]. He uses raw onions on Patrick, so he uses Krabby Patty meat as socks, angering SpongeBob. He throws him out of the restaurant into a dumpster, and then shoots soap bubbles at him using his holes, while Patrick throws the dumpster at SpongeBob. 

They get upset as Patrick is now clean and SpongeBob is now filthy, until they realize they can now spend their time getting dirty and clean respectively. SpongeBob tells a lesson that neither filthiness and cleanliness can exist without each other, and they should embrace what draws them together. Afterward, the two walk off into the sunset together.
