"SB-129" is the first segment of the fourteenth episode of season 1, and it is paired with "Karate Choppers." In this episode, Squidward finds himself in different time periods after locking himself in the Krusty Krab's freezer.

Plot

One early Sunday morning, Squidward prepares to play his clarinet, only to be interrupted by SpongeBob’s foghorn alarm clock. After it gets the clarinet temporarily lodged in his throat, SpongeBob misconstrues Squidward’s squeals of protest as a consent to go jellyfishing. Soon after, SpongeBob and Patrick appear at Squidward’s door, asking if Squidward is ready; Squidward denies this, though SpongeBob is oblivious to Squidward’s aversion to playing with them. Hoping for solace, Squidward takes advantage of the Krusty Krab’s Sunday closure and hides there; SpongeBob and Patrick follow Squidward into the restaurant, where Squidward locks himself in its freezer in a successful attempt to hide from them. Unable to extricate himself, Squidward reassures himself that he will be found “in no time.”

2000 years later, a robotic descendant of SpongeBob, SpongeTron, thaws Squidward out; horrified upon learning he is in the future, Squidward begs SpongeTron for a way to the past, prompting SpongeTron to direct Squidward to a nearby time machine. Assuming SpongeBob to not exist in the past, Squidward travels to a primordial Bikini Bottom, hoping for respite away from him and Patrick; instead, he encounters ape-like versions of the two, and teaches them the sport of jellyfishing in order for him to be left alone. After Squidward poorly plays his clarinet, its sound angers the prehistoric SpongeBob and Patrick, leading them to chase Squidward into the time machine. Desperate to escape, Squidward accidentally breaks a key component of the time machine, causing him to be transported to an unknown location devoid of life or matter.

Realizing he is finally alone, Squidward at first revels in his newfound solitude, but is unnerved by the sound of strange, disembodied voices repeating the world “alone”. Inadvertently discovering the time machine resting underneath the void, Squidward breaks down, lamenting the absence of Bikini Bottom, his home, and even SpongeBob. At these words, the time machine is inexplicably transported to the present, where SpongeBob and Patrick await Squidward’s arrival. Initially joyous to see the pair, Squidward becomes irritated at SpongeBob’s request to go jellyfishing and openly ponders the identity of the sport’s creator; when SpongeBob and Patrick unanimously declare Squidward as the inventor of jellyfishing, Squidward states that he will travel in time to rectify his mistake.
