"Mermaid Man & Barnacle Boy VI: The Motion Picture" is the second segment of the seventh episode of season 4, and it is paired with "Enemy In-Law." In this episode, after finding out the new Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy movie has actors, SpongeBob and Patrick make their own movie with the real heroes.

Plot[edit]
The Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy Fan Club watch a video about their heroes, and then the leader announces that there will be a movie about them. However, it turns out the movie uses actors instead of the actual Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy. SpongeBob and Patrick tell everyone they should boycott the movie, only to get kicked out. They inform Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy about this, who get shocked.
Patrick gets the idea to make their own movie, so they come up with a plot and the name at the Krusty Krab. Near Shady Shoals, they set up the movie set. SpongeBob has Sandy handle the stunts and explosives, Mr. Krabs cater to the affair, Patrick runs the camera, Plankton as the boom operator and Squidward is the makeup artist. Squidward fixes up the heroes, only to make them worse.
However, SpongeBob thinks they are beautiful. They start the movie, but Mermaid Man has trouble speaking his dialogue, and during one of the takes, Plankton has trouble keeping the boom out of the shot. Later, they shoot a scene with Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy using Pearl as the invisible boatmobile to get up a mountain with Kelp Thing's hide out on top.
However, the person pulling it has trouble and slips, causing Pearl to slide down the mountain into the air and crash onto the set. After realizing Patrick had put the lens cap on the camera the whole time, SpongeBob freaks out. Mermaid Man starts making a speech, and then falls down and tells SpongeBob to finish the movie.
The movie is shown at the Krusty Krab, where the Mermaid Man Fan Club arrives to watch it as the real movie was sold out. They all watch the movie, only to leave everyone unsatisfied except SpongeBob and Patrick, as well as Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy.
