SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom is a 2D platformer game of the SpongeBob SquarePants franchise. It was developed by Vicarious Visions and published by THQ for the Game Boy Advance in 2003. It is the handheld counterpart to the console versions and the PC version of the same game, and all of them released on the same day.
The game's story is similar to the console version but more simplified. Mr. Krabs thinks the invading robots are threatening the Krusty Krab's business, so he tells SpongeBob to fight the robots and get into the Chum Bucket to shut down Plankton's Duplicatron.
Gameplay[edit]
Unlike the console versions, SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom features a level-based progression system and relies on a password system rather than saves. SpongeBob is the playable character, and he can attack robots by blowing bubbles at them, which turn them off or on. SpongeBob cannot get rid of a robot entirely, because if he defeats a robot, another appears through a portal in its place. The robots are used to solve platforming challenges.
The game has four chapters, each consisting of seven levels.
Reception[edit]
- Nintendo Power rated the game 58 out of 100,praising the graphics and action.
