"The Krusty Sponge" is the first segment of the ninth episode of season 5, and it is paired with "Sing a Song of Patrick." In this episode, when critic Gene Scallop gives a positive review of SpongeBob's work, Mr. Krabs brands the Krusty Krab entirely on him.

Plot[edit]
Squidward is taking a customer's order, when he realizes SpongeBob is frozen stiff and isn't working. Mr. Krabs notices this and says it is the thousand-yard stare, and learns that he is like this because food critic Gene Scallop visits the Krusty Krab today. The critic arrives and SpongeBob delivers a Krabby Patty to him.
He leaves and later, in the news, he complains about the Krusty Krab's environmental conditions, but then praises the fry cook, SpongeBob, for his delicious patties. As he goes back to work, Mr. Krabs gets the idea to capitalize SpongeBob's new fame and bases the restaurant off of him.
SpongeBob goes to work and sees that the Krusty Krab has turned into “The Krusty Sponge.” Mr. Krabs turns Squidward, who is in a SpongeBob costume, into the fry cook while he makes SpongeBob himself operates the Krusty Sponge Fun Train.
Later, Mr. Krabs is in a money bath when Squidward there are men in the back with a delivery. It turns out he bought a bunch of everyday items with SpongeBob's face on it, including new Krabby Patties called Spongy Patties. Meanwhile, SpongeBob puts a statue of himself in place of him on the train so he can get into the Krusty Krab
However, when he enters, everyone has been poisoned by the Spongy Patties. He notifies Mr. Krabs about this, and later a police officer notices this and cuffs Mr. Krabs for poisoning everyone and sends him to court. There, he notices the judge is using a SpongeBob gavel, so he allows the judge to use the Fun Train as many times as he wants with Squidward driving.
Trivia/Goofs[edit]
- Despite his last name Gene scallop is not actually a scallop
- Mr Krabs should have thrown out the expired patties instead of serving them to the customers.
