"The Other Patty" is the second segment of the first episode of season 8, and it is paired with "Accidents Will Happen." In this episode, Mr. Krabs and Plankton work together to steal a new eatery's secret recipe.

SpongeBob is throwing out the garbage at the Krusty Krab, only for Plankton to come out of one of the bags with a Krabby Patty in his hands. Unfortunately for him, it self-destructs as it was 10 feet beyond the restaurant. SpongeBob asks why the two are always fighting, when they used to be best friends, but they say those days are over and now they are bitter enemies.
Plankton smells something from a distance, which turns out to be coming from a restaurant called the Flabby Patty. He gets a piece of the sandwich they sell from a customer, and after eating it, absolutely loves it. He tells SpongeBob he must steal the Flabby Patty recipe, so he tells Mr. Krabs the good news. But this only makes him angry, as he thinks it's stealing its business, and soon after, all his customers leave to get a Flabby Patty. Plankton tells him he'll steal the formula, but Mr. Krabs also decides to do the same thing. SpongeBob tells them they should work together to steal it, but they refuse.
Plankton's plan is to go into the restaurant from the air, while Mr. Krabs' plan is to dig from beneath it. Plankton lands on him through one of the pipes, scaring them both and making them fall into the hole back outside. After SpongeBob fails to make them work together again, Plankton pretends to be a restaurant critic in order to cut through while Mr. Krabs makes SpongeBob yell that the hooks are coming to scare off the customers so they can easily get inside.
After their attempts fail again, SpongeBob finally convinces them to work together. He puts on a disguise for Mr. Krabs while Plankton holds him from the bottom, and makes them ask for a job at the place. The owner hires him and gives them the recipe to memorize. Upon getting it, they fight over it, but eventually they read it together. After doing so, they realize it is a recipe for love, and it turns out SpongeBob staged the whole thing so they can work together. After hearing this, the two chase him while in the formation they were in while getting the job at the Flabby Patty.
