Plot

SpongeBob tells Gary about how the lost episode of Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy is finally airing on TV, and that he has prepared himself to watch it after his shift at the Krusty Krab. There, the day goes very slowly, making SpongeBob annoyed. When the day's finally over, he rushes out, only to get stopped by Mrs. Puff as she needs him to fix her flat tire.

He puts himself in-place of the tire so she can get home. Afterward, he continues rushing to his house, only to get stopped by Patrick who needs him to find his rock at the Impound Yard. After helping him with that task, he starts running to his house again, only for Sandy to need him to do a chore. After hearing two Mermaid Man fans say no true fan would miss the show, he gets out of doing the chore and tries going to his house again.

However, he is constantly stopped by several people who need him to do their tasks. He finally reaches home, hoping he can at least watch the recorded version, only to see his VCR going haywire and everything getting ruined until they burst into flames, setting the house on fire. He cries so loudly everyone can hear him, and feel bad for what they did for SpongeBob.

To compensate for this, they bring a depressed SpongeBob to see a live performance of the episode on an amphitheater. SpongeBob loves their show and thanks them for showing the love they had for him. Old Man Jenkins asks everyone what they're doing at his amphitheater, but this makes everyone run away, despite him just wanting to have a role in the play.
