"Krabs à la Mode" is the second segment of the fifth episode of season 5, and it is paired with "New Digs." In this episode, Plankton lowers the temperature of the Krusty Krab using the thermostat, but his action works in favor for Mr. Krabs.

Plot[edit]
Squidward turns down the thermostat during a cold day at the Krusty Krab, only to make Mr. Krabs gets mad and tell him never to touch it. It is revealed that Plankton has been watching the entire scene, and gets the idea to turn down the restaurant during the night.
The next day, the Krusty Krew arrive at a freezing Krusty Krab and they start slipping around, but Mr. Krabs is not willing to turn the heat up as Plankton had taped a piece of paper reading “62°” on the thermostat. Plankton is watching to see if the Krusty Krab falls apart, but customers come in warm clothes and SpongeBob uses frozen Krabby Patties as skates to easily deliver to the customers.
The customers want to buy the skates and Mr. Krabs becomes successful despite the freezing environment, much to Plankton's dismay. Karen suggests he go steal a Krabby Patty during the confusion, so he goes over there to steal one, while Mr. Krabs has turned the restaurant into an ice rink. Since the patty Plankton stole was being used as a puck, the hockey players hit the patty around, unaware that he is under it.
At the same time, SpongeBob is trying to stop Plankton from getting away from the Krabby Patty. At one point, Plankton ends up flying onto the clamboni and tries to drive out of the restaurant while hitting everyone. Unfortunately, they prevent him from getting out and Mr. Krabs stops him.
He gets away and starts playing with his thermostat, constantly freezing and unfreezing everyone until he falls off and Mr. Krabs freezes him. Later, during the summertime, Mr. Krabs turns the Krusty Krab into a public swimming pool that quickly becomes popular.
