"Mermaid Man vs. SpongeBob" is the second segment of the fourteenth episode of season 5, and it is paired with "Blackened Sponge." In this episode, Plankton hypnotizes Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy to trick people into thinking Krabby Patties are bad.

Plot[edit]
Plankton watches a commercial for the Krabby Kids Meal, and afterward watches the Krusty Krab, successful and populated with kids. He also sees Karen chatting with Mr. Krabs, and she comes back to the Chum Bucket with the kids meal. He starts playing with the Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy toys while smashing the Mr. Krabs on the box, giving him an idea.
He tricks the heroes into getting rid of their dandruff when he's actually using mind control shampoo. Meanwhile, Mr. Krabs tells SpongeBob to get Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy. He reaches Shady Shoals, when Mermaid Man uses the spine blaster on him and afterward he, as well as Barnacle Boy, arrive at the Krusty Krab.
They reach the press conference booths, where when Perch Perkins asks them about their opinion on the Krabby Patty, Plankton controls him so he will say that they are bad. He fails for some time, but eventually gets him to say they are evil, shocking everyone. He then makes Mermaid Man say he prefers the food at the Chum Bucket, so everyone heads over there.
SpongeBob serves them Krabby Patties, getting the heroes out of their mind control until Plankton mind controls them again and makes them head toward his restaurant. SpongeBob becomes Fry Boy and feeds them patties, but they don't get affected and head back to the Chum Bucket.
He realizes since they are elderly, so their tummies are having a hard time digesting the food. He crashes a fiber truck into the restaurant and feeds them the fiber, allowing them to digest the food and turn back to normal. The three along with the rest of the customers head back to the Krusty Krab, leaving the Chum Bucket empty.
