"Blackened Sponge" is the first segment of the fourteenth episode of season 5, and it is paired with "Mermaid Man vs. SpongeBob." In this episode, after getting a black eye, SpongeBob tells fake stories about the incident so people won't laugh at him.

Characters[edit]

Plot[edit]

SpongeBob has a dream of him being muscular and fighting Jack M. Crazyfish while trying to help a lady tied to train tracks. He wakes up and goes to the bathroom to brush his teeth, but can't open it, so he uses a wrench, only for the cap to bounce around and hit his eye. Afterward, he slips on the cap and hits his eye on the wrench, giving him a black eye.

He's embarrassed by this and puts shades on while going to the Krusty Krab, when Patrick sees his black eye after wanting to try them on after seeing them. He wonders what happened, so SpongeBob tells him he had a battle with Jack M. Crazyfish and that's how he got his black eye.

Later, Sandy is riding seahorses when she sees SpongeBob's black eye. He tells her he got into a fight with Crazyfish but after winning, but accidentally poked the straw of a water cup onto his eye, causing his black eye. He goes into the Krusty Krab and acts like a tough guy, and then tells them all how he got his black eye, which is yet another fight with Crazyfish.

The fight ends with SpongeBob using a feather duster on his ribs, but the thought of being defeated made him cry like a baby and his outburst hit SpongeBob's eyes, giving him a black eye. Soon after, the actual Jack M. Crazyfish comes, so he confesses that his stories were lies and demonstrates how he actually got his black eye. It turns out he just wanted a Krabby Patty, so he serves him one, but accidentally slips and the patty on his face, so they settle it with a game of rock-paper-scissors.
