Plot[edit]
SpongeBob reads a scary story before bedtime, causing him to see scary creatures whenever he turns off the light. At the Krusty Krab, he comes in extremely tired and whenever he sees the dark whenever he's working, he gets terrified. Because of this, Mr. Krabs sends him home and suggests he get a night light to keep his room lit.
He buys one and puts it in his bedroom, but sees several dark places in his home and buys more night lights to light them up, until eventually his whole home is lit up, including inside of himself. Patrick sees this glowing house and thinks he's having a party, but when he comes by, SpongeBob quickly grabs him and tells him to stay safe from the dark.
Patrick brings his rock to keep it from the dark, and the two have a sleepover. Meanwhile, the light from the home reaches Squidward's sleeping mask and burns it off as he's sleeping. He goes to SpongeBob's house and tells them to turn off all the lights, only for them to keep them on to stay safe from the scary creatures. Squidward tells them it's just their imagination and leaves.
SpongeBob wonders if it is their imagination, so Patrick suggests they get even more lights. When they bring the lighthouse, it turns out it is a Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy signal, so they come over. They get annoyed that there was no danger, until the Moth comes and fights Mermaid Man. However, he's unable to, so SpongeBob helps by locking him inside the lighthouse.
Unfortunately, he takes the house with him while flying away. Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy drive off in the invisible boatmobile, and then morning comes. Patrick runs up to the Sun while SpongeBob falls asleep, only to get burned and run back down.
