"The Ghost of Plankton" is the first segment of the seventeenth episode of season 12, and it is paired with "My Two Krabses." In this episode, Plankton turns into a ghost to steal the secret formula, but cannot grab the bottle, so the Flying Dutchman teaches him how to be a ghost.

Characters[edit]

Plot[edit]

Plankton watches a scary movie, and after covering himself with a blanket and acting like a ghost, he gets the idea to turn himself into a ghost so he can go through the walls of the Krusty Krab. He uses a machine to turn himself into a ghost and goes into the Krusty Krab to steal the formula, only for him to be unable to pick it up.

The Flying Dutchman is sitting nearby, laughing at him for thinking he can pick things up. Since he has a soft spot for thieves, he helps Plankton learn how to pick things up and the basics about being a ghost. He first teaches him that he can shapeshift by thinking of horrible things, but Plankton fails to shapeshift into something scary.

He then teaches Plankton how to scare people, and demonstrates by scaring a robber. Afterwards, Plankton takes his turn and ends up scaring himself. He is then taught on how to haunt houses, and uses Squidward's house as his example. As their haunting Squidward, Plankton suddenly is able to pick up his clarinet while taking it from Squidward, and learns that in order to pick things up, he must get very angry.

Plankton tries to steal the formula once more, but still can't as he can't get the formula out of the safe. He gives up on being a ghost and goes back to the Chum Bucket to return to his body, only for a funeral service to have started at the place for his body.

Plankton uses this as a way to scare everyone by going back into his body, but when the Flying Dutchman realizes the body's an empty vessel, he goes inside it and makes the body alive again, only for all the funeral attendants to get angry and beat "Plankton" up. The Dutchman gets out and gives the body back to Plankton as he doesn't want to be alive in that body. Plankton goes back in his body, only to continue getting beaten up by the crowd.
