"To Save a Squirrel" is the second segment of the fifteenth episode of season 5, and it is paired with "The Inmates of Summer." In the episode, SpongeBob and Patrick get lost in a forest.

Characters[edit]

Plot[edit]

SpongeBob and Patrick are horrified by a monster and run to Sandy for help. Sandy investigates and finds that the monster is only a cricket, which she sends back up to the surface. She proceeds to prepare for her survival training camp in the forest. SpongeBob and Patrick find this interesting and want to go, while Sandy does not think they could last in the wild. As she drives off, they sneak in the back of her truck.

Sandy drives to the forest, when Patrick opens the back door and sends himself, SpongeBob, and supplies flying out. SpongeBob pitches the tent, while Patrick starts a fire using the box of food. Patrick extinguishes the fire with the tent, which makes it bigger. SpongeBob splashes their water on the fire, having used the rest of their supplies.

Patrick thinks about what they should do next, and they eventually enter a cave. A cave fish claims that SpongeBob and Patrick will be stuck for the rest of their lives, and they find shelter. Patrick finds a large rock and sleeps under it, while SpongeBob builds a mud replica of his pineapple house. The cave fish tells SpongeBob that Patrick is getting hungry and will try to eat him. SpongeBob hears Patrick wanting to eat a sponge cake and asks the cave fish for help, who says he should protect himself.

SpongeBob builds a mud Krusty Krab and makes a Krabby Patty out of dirt and rocks. He goes insane and gets the idea to eat Patrick first, attempting to fry his arm. Patrick tries to cook SpongeBob in soup, and SpongeBob makes him into a sandwich. The two chase each other over a bottle of ketchup, when the cave fish stops to congratulate them. He exposes himself as Sandy in disguise, who is glad that they proved their survival skills and gives them medals. SpongeBob and Patrick are still hungry and chase Sandy into the cave.
