"Fungus Among Us" is the third segment of the third episode of season 5, and it is paired with "Rise and Shine" and "Waiting." In this episode, SpongeBob spreads an itchy fungus around Bikini Bottom after trying to prevent Gary from eating it.

Plot[edit]
Gary wakes SpongeBob up so he can feed him, but he gives him organic snail food, which he dislikes. He tries to eat fungus growing on the ground, but SpongeBob stops him and tries to clean it up. Patrick comes by, but sees that SpongeBob has fungus on him and shows him his issue. He tries to get the fungus off using several methods, but they only further spread the fungus on his body.
At the Krusty Krab, the fungus causes further problems with SpongeBob's work. When Squidward notices, he panics and calls the SWAT team, who throws him in a cage and takes him back to SpongeBob's house, which gets quarantined. Unfortunately, some fungus lands on Squidward's head and accidentally spreads it to a customer, unaware that he was the one who spread it.
Patrick comes in and starts playing with SpongeBob's bubble. They accidentally pop it while playing pirate wrestling. Patrick gets the idea to blow a bubble big enough to fit SpongeBob in. Meanwhile, Squidward is cooking Krabby Patties and tainting them with fungus, causing the customers to get the fungus when the tainted patties are served to them.
Squidward finds out he has the fungus and the customers riot on him, just as SponegBob arrives. Everyone starts attacking SpongeBob, while Gary watches from outside. The customers cause the bubble to pop, spreading fungus all over the restaurant. Right after, Gary eats the fungus off of Mr. Krabs, giving him the idea to have him eat the fungus off of everyone else in exchange for their money.
