SpongeBob and Patrick are playing leapfrog, when they fall down a cliff onto a bush. They find out a worm lived there and take it to SpongeBob's house. They try to greet the worm to Gary and make them get along, but they get angry at each other instead. For the night, SpongeBob makes Gary sleep on the guest newspaper while the worm sleeps with him.
The next day, he sees that the worm is having trouble with her belly, so he gets Patrick down to help. He finds out that the worm had give birth, and shows Gary. However, he and Mrs. Wormsley get into a fight leading to the worm to be drive out of town. Since the worm babies are all alone, SpongeBob tries to find loving homes for them to stay for each one of them.
He first goes to Squidward's house, but he doesn't want them. He then goes to Mrs. Puff's house, but she gets terrified by them and accidentally destroys her house from puffing in fear. Later, he offers them to Larry. He accepts them, but wants them for protein, so SpongeBob pushes them away before he can eat them, but they end up on an intersection with an 18-wheeler headed straight for it, so SpongeBob goes inside it and takes out the engine to stop it.
A nearby phone rings and when SpongeBob answers, it's Mr. Krabs telling him he's late for work. He quickly comes to the Krusty Krab and tells him about his situation. He offers him the worms, but they spit on him and he tells him to get rid of them. He goes inside a garbage can, where soon after a garbage truck comes by. The garbage fish recognize the goo the worms spit out and say they are a rare species and worth a fortune. Mr. Krabs learns about this and sells them for $5.99 each.
